What on earth do the Pacific Islands have to do with Israel?

"Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, proclaim it in distant coastlands: He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over His flock like a shepherd." Jeremiah 31:10

A most interesting discovery has been that in contrast to so much of the rest of the globe, there is not to be found one iota of anti-Semitism throughout the original inhabitants of the Pacific Islands.

Initially it was assumed that this was due to the fact that the early Christian teachers to the once animist Melanesian, Micronesian and Polynesian tribesmen of the Pacific, simply forgot to add a footnote to their Bibles, advising these new inductees to the Christian faith that the Jew of the Bible was no longer all that important to the Almighty.

Providentially, they somehow got the Word of God unedited!

What went wrong that they got it right?

Most of the Western World has such an undercurrent of humanism from ancient Greek philosophers, we have unwittingly lost the initial Biblical understanding of a God-ordained family model designed to ultimately bless the universe. Unfortunately Hellenistic logic had replaced Hebraic legacy, but fortunately the islanders never bought into the inferior substitute. They never forgot their spiritually oriented roots!

Insights into the Pacific Island world view inspired a SPIM outreach to encourage this latent potential in perhaps one of the heretofore most successfully evangelised areas of the world. These new opportunities proved to be neither chance nor of human design. This was a call to fulfill what God has been preparing ever since He first created coconuts and coral reefs!

You will discover that Isaiah, Jeremiah and the Psalms are embedded with at least a dozen references to a unique participation by the "Islands of the Sea" in Messianic days.

It is hardly by chance that beginning with Micronesia in 1997 and the Marshall Islands shortly thereafter, the only two nations that routinely stand with Israel for non-political reasons in the highly politicised voting in the UN are from the South Pacific Islands!
